Born in a small MO town in 1932, Liz ended up in CA. She became interested in oil painting in the late 60s. With no formal art training, she began by taking lessons from popular selling artists for a decade and began showing in galleries herself in Menlo Park, Sunnyvale and Carmel. She continued taking classes and then teaching privately and in adult classes in Sunnyvale.

She moved to Lincoln CA, took a 35 year hiatus after burning out from commercial art work, but continuing lessons in various media, and traveling to Mexico and Europe to further her art education. She recently returned to the easel and began painting for her own pleasure and not for galleries, not limiting her work to specific subjects. Her subject matter now reflects her varying interests.
